Lor Campbell Gehret
Science Librarian

The Latin School of Chicago

"The organization of SB&F makes it my favorite book guide. The fact that it is broken down into Adult and Junior High sections, coupled with the Dewey numbers inside of each section, makes it very easy for me to zero in on exactly what pertains to my particular interests as a science librarian for the upper and middle school. The reviews are great, and really help take the guess work out of book buying! Thanks for such a great product."

Terry Young, M.Ed, MLS
School Library Media Specialist
West Jefferson High School, New Orleans, LA

"As a former science teacher and now a school library media specialist, I truly appreciate the niche that SB&F fills in my professional life. When I started my career teaching science, the review sources for science books were the professional science association journals. Later, when I became a school library media specialist, I noticed that the library professional journals had more science reviews than the science association journals. While the reviews were appreciated, they were still minimal in number. As a school library media specialist I must remain cognizant of the changes in the field of science. Science is a rapidly changing genre and the science materials in my school library were quickly becoming outdated and obsolete. Keeping abreast on current topics in science and making the information available to my students and faculty in a timely manner is important to me. I’ve discovered that SB&F is the best source for critical reviews of recently published books, audiovisuals and software. The reviews are straightforward and note scientific inaccuracies if appropriate. The feature article in each issue of SB&F reflects current trends in science education and often provides curricular lessons, experiences, and bibliographies. SB&F delivers!!"

"SB&F is essential for all school library media specialists. I recommend it to the graduate students in library media studies at Western Maryland College. I use every issue."

Jean Caridio

"A valuable selection tool for the public library—you review what other sources pass over."

Kathryn Allen
Librarian
Robert Finley Middle School, Glen Cove, NY

"Your publication is my bible for the subjects you cover. I always wait to compare your reviews with other sources. I’ve been a subscriber for as long as I can remember—could it be 20 years?"

Elizabeth Skinner
Reference Librarian
Forsyth County Public Library
Winston-Salem, NC

"[SB&F is] my primary resource for collection development in the sciences. Coverage of science fair project materials is excellent."

Barbara Buehler
Library Director
Allen Public Library
Allen, TX

"As a liberal arts major, I’ve always felt selection of science material my poorest area. Since subscribing to SB&F, I am much more assured of my selections, thanks to the great reviewers you use!"
