Maria
Sosa, Editor-in-Chief
Maria Sosa
is the editor-in-chief of SB&F, manages the publications
staff of the Directorate
for Education and Human Resources Programs at AAAS, and is
also the project director for the Science
+ Literacy for Health Project. Maria received her master’s
degree in education and the teaching of English from Teachers
College, Columbia University, and a bachelor’s degree in humanities
from Shimer College. Before coming to AAAS, Maria was an award
winning software and audiovisual writer/producer, as well as a
writer and editor of educational print materials. Since coming
to AAAS, she has conducted a number of workshops for librarians
at national meetings and represents AAAS at national and local
meetings of community-based organizations and professional scientific
associations. She is also the editor of a monograph on children’s
science books.

Heather Malcomson,
Editor
Heather earned
her Masters' of Science degree from Bowling
Green State University in Bowling Green (BGSU), Ohio in 2000.
She became interested in science education and science publications
through her experiences as a lab instructor and through her involvement
in the revision of the undergraduate biology lab manual at BGSU.
While in graduate school Heather managed to give some time back
to the community by being involved in the Campus Sister's Program.
Each semester Heather played "Big Sister" to a little girl in
the community, passing on her love of science and the outdoors.
Heather is an avid reader and runner, and loves to take her dog,
Amelia, on walks all over the city. She also enjoys traveling
with her husband.

Ann M. Williams,
Art Director
As an art
director at the American Association for the Advancement of Science,
Ann M. Williams is responsible for the design and production of
all major publications for the Directorate for Education and Human
Resources Programs that publishes SB&F. She has
extensive experience in publications production management and
graphic design, resulting in numerous national publication design
awards and selection as a judge for two national design competitions.
She has also worked as an adjunct professor at The American University,
where she taught graphic design in the School of Communications.
Ann has a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts from Howard University
and has acquired considerable additional training related to desktop
publishing and World Wide Web graphic design.
