SB&F
Science Fiction Classics
For over 30 years, SB&F
has
published critical reviews of nonfiction titles. Now we find ourselves
venturing into the realm of science fiction. Why? Because we believe that
science fiction can inspire young readers to choose a career in science,
because science fiction can address ethical and moral questions about science
in an entertaining manner, and because science fiction helps us imagine
the future, sometimes even predicting where "real" science takes us. For
a 1998 special edition of
SB&F, we asked our reviewers to choose
a book or books that they thought best used real science for fictional
effect, made a difference in its time, or influenced their decision to
pursue a career in science. We hope you enjoy their selections of classic
sci fi!
